This recipe I found in a company wide recipe book that is published every summer at work. It is a collection of recipes from people within the company all over the nation. This BBQ sauce comes from a kitchen in Sandusky, OH.
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup light or dark corn syrup
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup mustard
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
Directions: Stir together all ingredients in sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and boil gently for 15 minutes to thicken. Brush on meats, turning frequently, during the last 20 minutes of grilling.
My changes: I added~
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- dash ground pepper
- pinch Pacific smoked sea salt
The BBQ sauce is very tangy due to the vinegar and ketchup. I placed it over spare ribs in the crock pot. Adding the brown sugar seemed to cut a bit of the tang.
